Food Drive, Movie Night, Chipotle Fundraiser, and more!

Good morning Trojan Shelter Family!

Since my first letter, Trojan Shelter has not only started numerous projects, but many of them will soon cross the finish line. Our amazing E-board members and their committees have been working tirelessly to create programs, volunteer engagement activities, fundraisers, media projects, and more!

Director of Staff Hannah Mulroe and her committee are busy! They are developing a food drive in partnership with Trojan Food Pantry. By the end of April, the committee will have connected with organizations throughout campus to gather resources for the food pantry.

The Staff Committee also is planning numerous volunteer engagement activities for us to develop a community within our organization. Just this past Saturday, the United Way invited the Trojan Shelter community to come to attend a viewing of The Advocates, a documentary about three organizations coming together to address homelessness in Los Angeles. After the screening, we were welcomed by a panel of experts for us to learn about LA homelessness on a deeper level. Later in April, we will also have a beach bonding night. We are looking forward to not only a short escape from school, but to also develop strong bonds with everyone within the organization.

Emma Dessau, Director of External Affairs, developed a fundraiser with every college students’ favorite restaurant, Chipotle! On April 15th,between  5-9pm, be sure to come to the Chipotle on South Figueroa Street. If you are a student, or in the area, come by for a quick and delicious meal. If you are a parent, come visit your child and treat them to a meal at Chipotle. In every purchase, 50% of all supporters’ net sales will be donated to Trojan Shelter. We hope to see you there!

Our Media Committee is in the middle of creating a promotional video for Trojan Shelter. Though I may be biased, our committee is full of talent. We have students from the School of Cinema, Roski School of Art, Marshall School of Business, and Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism. We are excited to show you our finished project at the end of April.

Lastly, I would like to introduce you to our volunteer of the week, Michael Egan! Although he is just a freshman, he has already proven himself to be integral to the Media Committee, especially to our new bi-weekly blogs. Not only did he write a stellar first blog post for Trojan Shelter, but he is also an acting editor making sure the content we publish is accurate and engaging. Trojan Shelter and the Media Committee would not be the same without him. Thank you, Michael, for being part of our team!
